Our Wedding Rings

I put our wedding rings in the time capsule in 2006.  My plan was to give them to the first of the Davis cousins, including my kids, who were married 30 consecutive years.

My ring was my original wedding ring.  It is old and worn down, but not nearly as worn down as Ben's. Ben's ring is his 3rd ring of our marriage.  He never lost his rings.  He wore them so thin they broke off of his finger.  No boss or coworker ever suggested he take his ring off on the job.  One look at the size of his hands made it clear that wasn't even up for discussion.

My grandson Dustin helped me to open the time capsule December 24, 2022.   I held a huge but broken umbrella over him while he did most of the work.  I only dripped a little water on him but he never complained once.

I was honored to give the wedding rings to Todd and Christy Davis on December 25, 2022 at the Davis Farm Christmas Breakfast.

My original plan included opening the time capsule in 2016.  I chose not to do that due to the manner of which I lost my second husband January 3, 2016.

The post before this contains photos of the paper contents of the time capsule.  This post contains the photo of the rings.

I invite anyone who is interested to write or send something small to be put in the time capsule.  I will also return the original contents except the rings.

It has been a joy to honor my husband Ben Davis in this manner.

With a great deal of love, Carmen Davis
